The language of zombies is universal in Apocalypse Z 2—aka Apocalypse Z: New World—the sequel to the popular Spanish-language, Prime original zombie flick, Apocalypse Z: The Beginning of the End, coming to Amazon Prime Video this weekend.

Directed by Carles Torrens, with a screenplay by Ángel Agudo, this sequel movie is, like the first film, based on the post-apocalyptic novels by Manel Loureiro. Apocalypse Z: New World picks up after the outbreak of the TSJ virus that turns infected people into aggressive killers, aka zombies.

This sequel features a new cast (Carlos Alcaide, Julia Martínez, Mónica López, Tamara Casellas and Santiago Vaca Narvaja) and a new set of characters, who are hiding out in the Canary Islands, one of the last refuges in Europe. A mission of special operatives journey off island in search of supplies, joined by an outsider, Roberto, whom they don’t trust. Without giving away spoilers, let’s just say this supplies mission doesn’t exactly go as planned.
