‘Party Rock Anthem’ singer Lauren Bennett’s tragic cause of death revealed
Lauren Bennett’s cause of death has been revealed five months after her death at age 36.
The singer, best known for her feature on LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” died by suicide, according to TMZ.
The outlet also reported that her body was discovered by her longtime partner, dancer and “Footloose” remake actor Kenny Wormald, and her father, Richard Bennett.
Lauren, a former member of girl group G.R.L., died on May 29 in her hometown of Meopham, Kent, England.
Her former bandmates announced her death “with great sadness” in a statement shared on Instagram on July 6.
“Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us,” Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen wrote at the time. “We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us.”
“Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved. Rest peacefully, sweet Lauren. You will always be in our hearts. ❤️,” the statement concluded.
G.R.L. formed in 2013 before disbanding two years later following the death of member Simone Battle, who died by suicide at age 25 in September 2014.
The group reunited in 2016 and continued touring afterward, fizzling out in the following years.
As Page Six previously reported, an investigation into Lauren’s death was opened on June 12.
In July, we confirmed that the investigation was being handled by Kent and Medway Coroner Service, with an inquest scheduled for Oct. 30.
At the time, authorities reportedly believed Lauren had most likely died by suicide.
Her father, Richard, paid tribute to his “beautiful and talented daughter” while revealing that she had “experienced a severe reaction to a prescribed medication” months before her death. He did not disclose the specific drug.
He also slammed the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), accusing medical professionals of failing to properly treat “the love of my life and my pride and joy” for five months before her death.
“As a family, we all rallied around her and did everything we could to support her,” Richard wrote on Instagram on July 7.
“We have no suspicions regarding the circumstances of her death, only deep disappointment that, for five months, medical professionals and NHS services failed to treat her appropriately during her time of greatest need.”
He added that Lauren was “deeply loved” and would be “missed every day for the rest of our lives.”
“I hope she will be remembered for her remarkable achievements, her beautiful music, and the incredible person she was,” Richard wrote. “Her legacy lives on through her daughter, her family, and through the music she leaves behind.”
Lauren shared a 7-year-old daughter, Harlow, with Wormald.
