Brad Pitt ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ sequel shrouded in secrecy weeks ahead of debut: ‘Hasn’t been seen’
Director David Fincher and writer Quentin Tarantino‘s “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth” is awards season’s most mysterious movie.
“No one has seen it,” says a Hollywood insider. “It hasn’t been shown at any festival, it hasn’t been shown anywhere. It hasn’t been seen by the industry.”
Tarantino surprised fans with the first 17 minutes of the Brad Pitt film at AFI Fest last month. But there have been no press screenings.
Film nerds have speculated that Fincher is still editing the movie. “Fincher is known as a perfectionist, so it’s not shocking that it would be down to the wire,” says a film insider.
Invitations to official Academy screenings have gone out — featuring Q&As with Fincher and some of the cast (but not Pitt). They’ll be held Nov. 20 at MoMA in NYC and Nov. 14 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in LA.
“What’s interesting is that only the official Academy screenings are happening now,” said a source of the screenings.

It was announced yesterday that Fincher’s frequent collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (of Nine Inch Nails) are behind the film’s score.
The film’s being released exclusively via IMAX on Nov. 25 for two weeks before streaming on Netflix.
The project is a spin-off of 2019’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” and stars Pitt with Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Timothy Olyphant and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
Theater chains Regal and Cinemark have boycotted the film because of its short theatrical window.
