Family of Ellen DeGeneres’ late producer Matt Wright reveal new details about his ‘sudden’ death

Matt Wright’s family revealed he unexpectedly died “peacefully in his sleep” while in Los Angeles on Friday. He was 52.

The former executive producer of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” shared the new details about his “sudden” death via a GoFundMe statement.

Wright’s family requested financial support to help raise funds to transport his body to his family in New York and cover funeral expenses, both of which are “unexpected costs” that are “impossible for the family to bear.”

Ellen DeGeneres stands on a stage next to a man with a shaved head and beard, smiling and gesturing as he looks at her.

“If Matt has ever made you laugh, said an encouraging word right when you needed it, or ordered one too many appetizers for the enjoyment of the whole table, now is the time to repay the favor,” the statement read.

Additional funds will go towards Wright’s “pride and joy — his niece Sami.”

As for Wednesday, the page raised more than $94,000.
