UK lunatic butchered roommate, stashed body in freezer for 3 years with slain pet guinea pigs: prosecutors

A UK man killed his close friend and roommate and stashed her dismembered body in a freezer for three years alongside her five guinea pigs he’d drowned, prosecutors alleged Wednesday.

George Gordon, 65, is accused of butchering Delia McInerney in April 2023 after he found out she planned to permanently move to Portugal where she had another home, prosecutors alleged at the start of his trial.

Gordon, of St Helens, a large town in the North West region of England, then allegedly drained the bank accounts of McInerney, a 62-year-old artist.

He also allegedly opened credit cards in her name, racking up £22,000 of debt — the equivalent of nearly $30,000, according to a report by the Daily Mail, citing the prosecutor.

Gordon also pretended to be McInerney in messages and emails to her friends and family who’d grown concerned about her whereabouts — all “bare-faced lies” to hide what he’d done, prosecutor Martin Reid alleged.

Gordon carried on with the charade for 18 months, Reid claimed.

“Unbeknown to them, but known very well to the defendant, Delia McInerney had died in April 2023 at the defendant’s hands,” the prosecutor told the jury.

“Her dismembered body was found in a chest freezer in the defendant’s flat on January 8 this year,” he added.

Gordon, who was not present in the Liverpool Crown Court Wednesday, allegedly bought a sledgehammer, a cordless handsaw, the textbook “Gray’s Anatomy,” and drugs in the weeks and months before her death, prosecutors alleged.

After the killing, Gordon allegedly went to a bar and ordered a chest freezer on Amazon which he used to hide her remains for years until cops raided his apartment.

“She’s in the freezer,” the accused killer allegedly told the officers during the Jan. 8 search.

Gordon was motivated to murder her partly for “financial gain” and partly out of his concern she was moving away.

McInerney and Gordon were friends for years and she lived with him part time even though she had her own home in Liverpool and a place in Portugal too, the prosecutor said.

Gordon also savagely drowned the muddle of guinea pigs since he believed people would grow suspicious seeing the animals without McInerney — who was “devoted” to them and planned to bring them with her to Portugal, the prosecutor claimed.

“These, the Crown says, are the same five guinea pigs that Ms McInerney was planning to take to Portugal just two days later, and of which she was so fond,” Reid told the jury.

“They were, the prosecution says, to meet the same fate as their owner Ms McInerney,” he added.

Gordon initially claimed to investigators that he came home and discovered McInerney on the floor in the throes of an overdose from pills, so he knocked her in the head to “end her suffering,” prosecutors claimed.

He later allegedly changed his story, claiming he killed her in self-defense after she attacked him as he was trying to call for an ambulance.

Mere days after carrying out the murder, Gordon visited McInerney’s Portugal house and took photos of himself there, prosecutors claimed.
