Carson Daly lifts the lid on ‘Today’ show cast’s wild nights out: ‘We have a good time’
Sip happens after hours.
Carson Daly let fans in on the “Today” show cast’s wild side, revealing what happens when the cameras stop rolling and the co-anchors hit the town during the holiday season.
“We definitely have some holiday cocktails,” Daly admitted in an exclusive interview with Page Six on Thursday from the Today Studio.
His “Saturday Today” co-anchor, Laura Jarrett, added that their anchor happy hours typically start around 1 p.m.
“I leave at three, and I come into work the next day, and there are stories about you guys staying there, and Ubers, and all kinds of stuff,” Daly divulged. “So, we have a good time when we get together.”
“The boys leave at one point in the afternoon, and then that’s when things really get interesting,” Jarrett joked.
In addition to their cocktail-filled nights, the anchors also celebrate the festive season with a white elephant gift exchange.
However, Daly isn’t the only one to have his own wild stories from nights out with co-workers.
During a July 2024 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Savannah Guthrie revealed that she once lost a tooth during the company’s annual holiday party.
“When you’re at the TODAY show Christmas party, it starts at, like, 3 p.m. Lot of day drinking. It was — I don’t know,” Guthrie said at the time.
She said that when she woke up in the morning, she woke up and realized that she was missing a molar.
“I had, like, a blank space. It’s weird,” Guthrie said at the time.
Page Six interviewed Daly just hours after he was named as the permanent co-anchor of “Saturday Today.”
Alongside Jarrett, the show features anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman.
“I’m thrilled to add ‘Saturday Today’ to my weekday morning schedule,” Daly said in a statement. “My kids asked if I’ll still make pancakes. I told them yes, but I’ll be making them for Laura, Joe and Angie instead. I’m equal parts grateful and excited for this opportunity.”
Daly, 53, will continue to co-host “Today” during the weekdays while joining the Saturday team.
“Carson has been an integral part of the ‘Today’ family for the past 13 years, and we are thrilled that our viewers get to spend one more day of the week with him,” Libby Leist, executive vice president of Today and Lifestyle, said in a statement.
“Carson and Laura make a great team, and we can’t wait for this fresh new chapter of ‘Saturday Today,’” she added.
During Thursday’s segment of Jenna Bush Hager’s “Morning Boost” segment, he and his co-anchors — which included Al Roker, Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones — raised a pint of Guinness beer to his new gig.
Guthrie gushed about the former “Total Request Live” host during the segment, explaining to the audience that he is “like a brother” to her.
“I always say to anyone who will listen that Carson is like salt and pepper on a meal. He makes everything taste better, he makes every segment he’s in pop,” she said.
“You bring so much love and light and I am so happy, so cheers to you,” she added.
