Aaron Donald gets brutally honest about Rams return: ‘Ain’t what I expected’
Aaron Donald’s return to the Los Angeles Rams after spending the past two seasons retired was one of the NFL’s biggest offseason stories.
Donald is now back. And while his comeback got a ton of attention, it has not been all sunshine and sacks for him and the rest of the Rams’ world-class defensive line, which has been marred by injuries.
The 35-year-old three-time Defensive Player of the Year made a candid admission about his return to The Sporting Tribune’s Eric Lambkins II.
“No, it’s not what I expected, but we here,” Donald said of his return. He then added, “And I’m going to enjoy it though, you know. I’m enjoying the process. I’m enjoying myself week in and week out getting better. I’m enjoying being out there with the guys.”
“Ain’t what I expected, but I’m enjoying it,” he added.
Donald also spoke about getting Myles Garrett back healthy in Los Angeles’ upcoming game against the Washington Commanders, as Garrett has been sidelined since the Rams’ Week 1 game.
“It’s good to have the pieces back to the puzzle. Was good to see him out there yesterday, today looking good, looking fast. Getting to work with them in full pads and playing off each other — looked pretty good today,” Donald said of Garrett.
“I’m excited about having him here, having him back obviously and seeing what he does Sunday,” Donald added.
While Donald’s return might not be what he expected so far, perhaps Garrett’s return can make it feel more like he had imagined.
