Coroner releases official cause of death for Nobu Malibu chef as witnesses reveal horrific new details
The 51-year-old Nobu sushi chef who died in a horrific car crash succumbed to “multiple blunt force injuries,” according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
Ryo Uchimiya was killed early Saturday morning when a speeding 16-year-old driver in a Range Rover SUV struck his parked car on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu while he was sleeping inside the vehicle.
The medical examiner ruled the manner of death as an accident.
As of early Sunday, no arrests had been made.
Jefferson “Zuma Jay” Wagner, a two-time former Malibu mayor and longtime surf shop owner, said he regularly witnesses dangerous encounters between drivers and cyclists on PCH, including outside Nobu.
“I’m right across the street from Nobu. I see it all the time,” Wagner told The California Post. “They get out, they don’t look in their mirrors. They hit the cyclists, run into car doors.”
