Sam Darnold makes shocking admission about Super Bowl performance

Sam Darnold had a big smile on his face after winning the Super Bowl in February, but he recently admitted he was actually beating himself up on the inside during his Lombardi Trophy-raising celebrations.
The Seahawks quarterback joined Taylor Lewan and Will Compton for an episode of “Bussin’ With The Boys” this week, and during a candid conversation with the ex-NFL players, he confessed there were parts of Seattle’s championship victory that he was “bummed” by.
“Not to be a freaking douche, but, like, I didn’t play great in the Super Bowl,” Darnold said. “Like, I missed way too many throws. And we still won. Our defense balled out and I didn’t turn over the ball, which helped.
“But, like, dude. To win the Super Bowl that way, I was, like, kind of bummed.”
Darnold completed just 19 of his 38 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown in the Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the Patriots at Levi’s Stadium, and he said after watching the film, there were “a few” throws that he wanted back.
One to Jaxon Smith-Njigba would have been a touchdown, he said. Two others to Rashid Shaheed and Cooper Kupp could’ve changed the final score drastically, he added.
He recalled thinking at the time, “How am I going to miss these throws right now? Are you kidding me?”
“Right away it was like, ‘How the f—k did I miss that?’” he said.
Darnold, though, has certainly gotten everything he’s needed to get over it quickly — not only did he just receive his Super Bowl ring for the win, but he also got married in the days after the big victory too.
