We’re still waiting for new episodes of Landman to drop on Paramount+, but as we prepare for Season 3, we have a fun story to share about the beloved Taylor Sheridan series.

By now, it’s impossible to think of anyone but Billy Bob Thornton playing curmudgeonly oil man Tommy Norris, but how exactly did Sheridan pitch Landman to the famous actor? During a recent appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, the prolific writer revealed that he referenced one of Thornton’s most popular roles to convince the star to play Tommy Norris.

“I said, ‘I want to make a drama with Bad Santa running an oil company,’” Sheridan told Bill Simmons. “He’s like, ‘That’s the greatest f*cking thing I’ve ever heard in my life. Yeah, let’s do it!’”

When does Landman return with new episodes? Here’s everything we know.

Is Landman Airing a New Episode Tonight on Paramount+ (July 12)?

That’s a negative. There’s no new episode of Landman this week. The series has been on hiatus ever since its Season 2 finale debuted on January 18, 2026.

Will There Be a Landman Season 3?

Yes! Paramount not only renewed Landman for a third season in December 2025, but the streamer also praised the show for its record numbers, with the Season 2 premiere earning over 9.2 Million streaming views in its first two days on Paramount+.

Do We Know The Landman Season 3 Release Date?

Nope. Paramount+ hasn’t officially announced a Landman Season 3 release date. The first two seasons of the fan favorite debuted in November of 2024 and 2025, respectively, so we were hoping for a November 2026 return. Unfortunately, it looks like 2026 might be a bit too optimistic for a return date.

During a recent appearance on Howie Mandel’s podcast, series star Billy Bob Thornton confirmed production was delayed until “the end of August,” which will obviously push the Season 3 release date.

Again, there’s no official release date, but we expect Landman Season 3 to return in early 2027 on Paramount+.
