Liberty vs. Tempo prediction: WNBA odds, picks, best bets for Sunday

A little more than 24 hours after a close five-point defeat to the Lynx, Sabrina Ionescu and the Liberty travel to Toronto on the second leg of a back-to-back to take on the Tempo.
The Liberty still remain in the top three of the Eastern Conference standings, but have lost two games in a row and three straight contests away from the Barclays Center.
This tilt North of the border is a promising opportunity to snap that streak, considering the Tempo are down major depth due to injuries and are currently losers of four consecutive games.
In their first meeting, the Liberty walked away with a 97-82 win in early June.
Liberty vs. Tempo prediction, WNBA odds
This campaign marks the inaugural season for the Tempo, as the expansion franchise is led by three-level scorer Marina Mabrey, who averages 21.2 points per game.
The Notre Dame product exploded for a career-best 53 points against the Sparks in late June.
But since that impactful performance, the Tempo have not won a game, and the injury bug has run rampant on its roster, contributing to their recent struggles. Both Kiki Rice and Brittney Sykes, who were mainstay backcourt contributors, are on the shelf.
The Tempo’s frontcourt depth is also thin, with Nyara Sabally and Temi Fagbenle out of the rotation due to ailments.
This sets the stage for the Liberty, particularly Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones, to take advantage in the paint.
While Stewart remains a steady scorer, Jones has eight double-doubles already this season, and I’m confident in backing her to produce another one in this Sunday afternoon showcase.

The perennial All-Star posted a 22-point, 17-rebound monster effort against Toronto earlier this season.
It’s tricky to bet on the Liberty to cover the spread, given their 1-6 record against the spread in road games this season. However, I am willing to parlay a New York win with Jones notching a double-double.
