Luka Doncic hilariously calls out Lakers teammate Austin Reaves for antics off court

Luka Doncic didn’t hesitate to jokingly call out Lakers teammate Austin Reaves.

Doncic was asked by Rich Lerner of the Golf Channel if Reaves gives him any golfing advice, to which Doncic declined and jokingly said: “He’s afraid that I’m going to be better than him.”

Since Doncic arrived after being traded to the Lakers in February 2025, he and Reaves have developed a close relationship that consists of the two constantly trolling each other.

Before Doncic said Reaves would be worried that he would be better than him, he was asked if LeBron James or Reaves got him into the sport, to which Doncic said he got into golf after he went to Top Golf.

As the interview carried on, Lerner asked Doncic if Reaves is a plus-two player, and Doncic said, “Yeah, he is a plus two. He’s OK.”

His final jab at Reaves came when Lerner asked him about his trash-talking on the basketball court and if he trash-talks Reaves when they’re playing together.

“Yeah, also,” Doncic said. “A little bit less, but also.”

Doncic later confirmed that Reaves and James have helped him with golfing in the past.

While he’s a fairly new golfer, Doncic said he enjoys the sport. He calls it relaxing and addictive.

“There’s a lot of times I wanna do 36 holes,” Doncic said. “So it’s eight hours.”

While he’s fallen in love with the game of golf, Doncic said the key to success in golf is being mentally patient, as he believes the game is harder for him than basketball.

While Doncic and Reaves are enjoying their offseason on the golf course, there’s a new leaf turning with the Lakers after James’ departure this offseason.

Doncic is now ready to become the face of the Lakers and help lead them to their 18th NBA championship.

The expectations for Reaves are also higher than ever after the Lakers rewarded him with a $185 million extension, keeping him in a Lakers uniform for the next four years.
