‘The Gilded Age’s Morgan Spector Will Play Robert Langdon in New Dan Brown Series For Netflix

Exciting new casting news!
Netflix has just announced the casting of Robert Langdon in its new series based on Dan Brown’s 2025 novel, The Secret of Secrets. The streaming service has officially confirmed the development of the new series, which will see Morgan Spector play the beloved Harvard professor who loves to solve a good mystery.
The Secret of Secrets is the sixth installment in Brown’s series following the adventures of symbologist Robert Langdon. Langdon has quickly become the new James Bond and Sherlock Holmes, a protagonist whose name can easily bring an entire fanbase to invest their time in his next adventure.
Brown’s previous novels have been adapted into major motion pictures and have grossed more than $2 billion worldwide. It makes perfect sense why Netflix sees the potential in adapting the newest edition of Langdon’s adventures. As Netflix finally confirmed Spector’s casting, here’s everything you should know about the upcoming series.
Who is Morgan Spector?
Spector is one of the greatest character actors working today.
If his name sounds familiar, you might have seen Spector star in The Gilded Age and Black Rabbit. Carlton Cuse, who will serve as showrunner on the new Netflix series, told the streamer why Spector was the best actor for the job.
“Morgan is a truly wonderful actor whose work is always filled with intelligence, thoughtfulness and humanity,” he said in a statement. “He’s the perfect fit for Robert Langdon – a brilliant academic whose curiosity, intelligence and intellect are the tools of his trade.”
Who Has Previously Played Robert Langdon?

Most recently, Peacock released Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol in 2022, which starred Ashley Zukerman as Langdon.
Most famously, American treasure Tom Hanks played Langdon in three films: The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and Inferno.
Which Dan Brown Book Will The Netflix Series Adapt?
As we mentioned above, Netflix will adapt Brown’s sixth Robert Langdon novel, The Secret of Secrets. According to publisher Penguin Random House, the novel picks up after Langdon “has traveled to Prague to attend a groundbreaking lecture by Katherine Solomon – a prominent noetic scientist with whom he has recently begun a romantic relationship.”
However, things take a turn when Katherine is about to publish her book that will expose “revelations that threaten to disrupt centuries of established belief.”
Who is the Showrunner of the New Dan Brown Netflix Series?
Carlton Cuse will be the showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Cuse has previously worked on TV shows like Lost, Locke and Key, and Bates Motel.
There’s also more great news for fans of Brown. The author will be creatively involved in the show as an executive producer. It sure will be exciting to watch Spector and the creative team bring the story to the small screen!
