Emma Raducanu to miss US Open in injury heartbreaker

Emma Raducanu will not take part in the U.S. Open later in August due to her ongoing recovery from a stress fracture that forced her out of Wimbledon.
Multiple outlets reported that the decision was made after Raducanu consulted with her medical team, determining she wouldn’t be able to play in the Queens-hosted tournament, marking another setback for the 23-year-old tennis star.
Raducanu has been hampered by illness and injury in the run-up to the U.S. Open later this month, which has severely limited her on the court.
The Brit was forced out of Wimbledon earlier this summer after she was spotted in a walking boot in the week ahead of the major. Raducanu then announced that she would be skipping the event after originally planning to partake.
A foot injury impacted her preseason training, and then she could not play for two and a half months due to a post-viral illness that first reared its ugly head in early February.
She did eventually return to the court near the end of the clay season and reached her biggest final at the HSBC Championships in June, a first since she won the U.S. Open back in 2021.
However, that run ignited what has been ailing her since, with the lower-leg fracture.

Raducanu has been spending some of her rehab in Switzerland at Suvretta House, and she posted an upbeat post on Instagram over the weekend.
“Best reset ever!!” she wrote along with a series of photos of her at the resort, including a video of her on the tennis court in a boot.
The first round of the U.S. Open begins on Aug. 30.
