Cristiano Ronaldo and his wife Georgina Rodriguez kept their wedding small and quiet for a reason.

Rodriguez told Vogue the couple, who tied the knot on Aug. 11, wanted to do something more “unusual.”

However, she admitted there is more to come.

“In the future, we will have a big wedding, so we can celebrate with family and friends,” she said in a magazine profile. “When I was a little girl, “I dreamt of the biggest castle, the biggest carriage, the longest dress [and] a crown full of diamonds. And now I’m saying, ‘No. I want something intimate, with my partner and our children, at home.’

“Because castles, houses, islands, horses, cars: We have all of that within reach every day. But something intimate — that’s more unusual for us.”

The couple married in their living room in Cascais, Portugal with their five children present — twins Eva Maria and Mateo, 9, daughter Alana, 8, daughter Bella, 4, and 16-year-old son Cristiano Jr. The latter was from a previous relationship of Ronaldo’s.

They previously announced the death of Bella’s newborn twin brother, Ángel, in April 2022.

“We’ve chosen to do it in the living room of our house here, where we have breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and where we live the reality of our lives,” Rodríguez told the outlet. “In 30 years’ time I want the children to think, ‘Something wonderful happened at this table — the wedding vows of our parents.’”

The 41-year-old Portuguese soccer legend and billionaire, per Forbes, quickly joked, “It probably won’t be the same table. We might change the decor.”

The two revealed the news in a joint Instagram post that showed off the couple’s hands with their gold wedding bands.

“C❤️G” Ronaldo captioned the post.

Rodríguez admitted she “couldn’t hold back” her emotions during the intimate ceremony.

“It was exactly as I’d imagined it,” Rodríguez said about the ceremony. “Intimate, full of love, and with our family in the most important starring role. I couldn’t hold back the tears.”

Ronaldo and Rodríguez first met when she was a sales assistant at a Gucci store in 2017. The two were later spotted together for the first time at Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich and made things official in May of that same year.

In a full circle moment, Gucci dressed the couple for the ceremony.

“It felt incredibly special to dress Georgina and Cristiano for this moment, knowing their love story began in a Gucci store in Madrid,” Gucci artistic director Demna told Vogue. “There is something so romantic about it — a beautiful circle closing, almost like a modern fairy tale.”

This summer, Rodríguez shared various photos and videos from the family’s time in the U.S. for the FIFA World Cup.

Portugal reached the Round of 16 but suffered a 1-0 loss to the eventual World Cup winner, Spain. In the aftermath, Ronaldo announced it was his last World Cup.

He said he is looking forward to what is to come in what he predicts is his final year after 25 years filled with “sacrifice.”

“This is probably my last year of [soccer], and I want to leave a spectacular legacy. I have my future all mapped out,” Ronaldo said, referring to his eventual retirement. “I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one. And also have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really like, and continue to enjoy what I’ve earned — what we’ve earned. Because after all it’s been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice.”

As for what’s next for the couple, the two were also recently spotted in a box during the Saudi Pro League football match between Al-Nassr and Al-Fateh at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh on Saturday.

Some of their chilrden were seen with them, which Ronaldo said he would “never say never” to more.

“Another baby now would be ‘overbooking’ at home, but when the youngest are 15 or 16 we’ll still be young, so why not?” Rodríguez mused. “It’s true that I can’t imagine myself without small children, so we’ll see.”
