Maxx Crosby spurned Rams after Ravens deal fell through — leading to Myles Garrett blockbuster

Maxx Crosby opted for Sin City over Hollywood.

The Raiders’ star pass rusher turned down the opportunity to join the Rams after the trade that would have sent him to the Ravens fell through, according to ESPN.

The Rams ultimately pivoted to Browns reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.

This latest reveal provides another interesting “What if” to an offseason already filled with a major one involving Crosby.

The Ravens acquired him from the Ravens in a blockbuster only for the deal to be called off in March due to their unwillingness to complete the deal due to health concerns.

With the deal called off, the Rams reportedly emerged as the strongest pursuer among teams hoping they could swoop in and land Crosby.

One source told ESPN teams hoped for a “pennies on the dollar” deal, and the Eagles, 49ers and Cowboys all expressed interest.

Crosby, 29, made it known, though, per ESPN, that he would not be leaving, even if that meant saying no to the Super Bow hopeful in the Rams.

While the exact timeline is not known, he expressed in March his excitement to be back with the Raiders after the Ravens deal did not get to the finish line.

“Everything Happens For A Reason,” Crosby wrote on X. “Believe Nothing You Hear & Half Of What You See. Im A Raider. I’m Back. Run That S–t.”

The Rams certainly pivoted well in landing Garrett three months later, and they further beefed up their defensive line with Aaron Donald un-retiring.

Garrett had an inauspicious debut for the Rams in their 27-7 loss to the 49ers in Australia on Wednesday, failing to record a quarterback hit or sack.

Crosby and the new-look Raiders make their season debut Sunday at home against the Dolphins, with Las Vegas installed as a slight home favorite for Klint Kubiak’s coaching debut.
