The issue: President Trump threatens to annihilate Iran at the United Nations General Assembly.

Once again, President Trump has threatened to annihilate Iran if its leaders don’t make a deal — this time in the hallowed halls of the United Nations (“Don’s warning before the world,” Sept. 23).

It’s obvious why he’s stalling: The midterm elections are coming up and the Iran war is unpopular with his voters.

It’s unlikely Iran will ever make a deal unless there’s regime change. The president needs to stop with the constant threats and “deals,” as if he’s selling real estate — enough delaying.

Trump is the only president who had the courage to rein in the mullahs — he should finish the job.

Americans should be proud that they have a president who can stand up against Iran in front of the United Nations, receive praise from the leaders of Greenland and Venezuela, and sanction Vladimir Putin in favor of Ukraine.

When meeting CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins at the United Nations, the president had the audacity to tell her she shouldn’t be there. In reality, Trump was the one who shouldn’t have been there.

The UN assembly has been reduced to entertainment value. It no longer not lives up to the goal of bringing countries together in a spirit of unification and peace.

The president used the forum to boast, lie and threaten — as he does virtually everywhere.

One of his greatest whoppers was that our country is now stronger than it has ever been. Trump has weakened the United States immeasurably — forcing former allies to seek new partners as an unreliable America has failed to make any successful deals with Iran, granted he doesn’t “annihilate” it first.

While I applaud President Trump for calling out the United Nations and its disgraceful track record, I disagree when he says that it has potential to do good.

I believe the United Nations’ only agenda is to dissolve the sovereignty of the United States and to bring the rest of the member countries under the control of a one-world order.

The time has come for the United States to leave the United Nations.

During his UN address, Trump mused that he faces a big decision: to make a deal with Iran or to annihilate it.

An official threat to annihilate another country violates the UN charter’s prohibition on the threat or use of force. If one contemplates destroying Iran’s people or denying them a future as a nation, that also raises the specter of the gravest crime in international law — genocide.

Words from a president carry weight and can normalize mass violence. A self-described president of peace should not stand before the United Nations and threaten an entire country with destruction.
