‘Practical Magic 2’ Comes to Digital, But When Will ‘Practical Magic 2’ Be Streaming Free on HBO Max?

Practical Magic 2 is conjuring up a digital release, coming to digital platforms to buy and rent starting tomorrow, just in time for the height of spooky season.

This sequel comes nearly three decades after the Practical Magic movie, which was based on the 1995 novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman, first opened in theaters in 1998. The sequel film was directed by Susanne Bier, and written by Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett, and Kelly Marcel, who adapted the 2021 novel The Book of Magic by Alice Hoffman. The sequel takes place 25 years after the first film, and finds sisters Sally (Bullock) and Gillian (Kidman) Owens once again facing a family crisis that calls on their magic powers.

This time around, Sally is a mother of two daughters herself, Kylie (Joey King) and Antonia (Maisie Williams), who uncover the family secret and discover they might have a little—or a lot—of magic in them, too.

The Practical Magic 2 cast also includes Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing, who reprise their roles as eccentric aunts, as well as Lee Pace and Xolo Maridueña.

Where to watch Practical Magic 2 movie on streaming:

Practical Magic 2 will be available to buy or rent on digital platforms on Tuesday, October 13 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on October 12). You’ll be able to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to view after hitting “play.”

Practical Magic 2 movie will also release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on December 1, 2026. Both the digital and physical releases of the movie will come with bonus features, including making-of featurettes about the film and the research that went into the history of folklore and tradition of witchcraft.

Practical Magic 2 is not yet available on a subscription-based streaming service, but we do expect to see Practical Magic 2 movie streaming on HBO Max, free to HBO Max subscribers eventually, because Practical Magic 2 is a Warner Bros. movie, and HBO Max is the streamer owned by Warner Bros.

If you’re new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $10.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $18.49/month.

If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $19.99/month and without ads, $32.99/month.

When will Practical Magic 2 be streaming on HBO Max?

While we don’t yet know the Practical Magic 2 HBO Max release date, you might see Practical Magic 2 streaming on HBO Max later this year, around early December 2026.

All the new WB theatrical movies end up streaming on HBO Max, though the wait period has varied by title. Supergirl, for example, was released on digital about one month after opening in theaters, and began streaming on HBO Max about two-and-a-half months after it was released in theaters. If Practical Magic 2 follows a similar release pattern, you may see Practical Magic 2 on digital around mid-October 2026, and streaming on HBO Max around early December 2026, likely after the DVD release on December 1.

That said, perhaps WB will want to get Practical Magic 2 on HBO Max in time for Halloween, and will push for an earlier streaming release.

But that’s pure speculation. The Warner Bros. home releases have varied by title. In the meantime, you can always watch the Practical Magic 2 movie by buying or renting the movie online.
