Costco fans can’t get enough of its new fall sundae — and it’s only $2.99
Apple-solutely worth a trip to the food court?
Costco is giving shoppers another reason to make a beeline for the warehouse giant’s food court with its new Vanilla Apple Pie Sundae — a fall-inspired treat that costs just $2.99.
The seasonal sweet features layers of creamy vanilla soft serve, apple pie filling and crunchy, cinnamon-adorned pieces of pie crust, delivering all the cozy flavors of a slice of apple pie à la mode without a bakery price tag.
At $2.99 per cup, it’s also in line with the retailer’s other limited-time sundae offerings, including Vanilla Cookie Crunch and Caramel Palmier.
And early taste-testers are already dishing on the dessert online.
One Redditor in the r/Costco forum shared that they “had the new sundae over the weekend; it was delicious!”
They also praised the combination of “room temperature warm mixed with ice cream,” with pieces of pie crust “mixed in.”
Another fan ranked it above the warehouse’s previous frozen treats, calling it “easily best one so far.”
Asked about its sweetness, the same commenter offered a more detailed review: “I think it’s slightly less sweet than the other regular sundaes. The crunch from the pie crust adds a nice mouthfeel and the apple compote is definitely higher quality than I expected.”
Not everyone was ready to crown it the king of Costco desserts, however.
One Redditor thought the apple flavor fell a little flat, saying the pie was “incredibly weak with barely any cinnamon imo, it’s just ok overall.”
Another fan who had already tried the treat reported: “Had it today and it was delicious! Big chunks of pie crust and lots of yummy apple chunks.”
Food reviewer @morganchomps also got in on the action, comparing the sundae to the viral pumpkin pie sundae hack that had shoppers doctoring up their soft serve with a slice of the seasonal dessert.
The apple edition, she suggested, offers a similar shortcut to pie à la mode.
“It tastes like apple pie à la mode,” the Instagrammer said after taking a bite.

She also gave the filling a thumbs-up, noting: “I will say the apple pie filling itself tastes a little better and almost thicker than a normal canned one would. They’re not gritty or crunchy. And I love these pieces of crust.”
Of course, Costco’s food court has a long history of tempting shoppers into one more purchase — and this fall, the warehouse is making a compelling case for saving room after the bulk groceries.
Costco’s food court has stirred up dessert drama before.
As The Post recently reported, the retailer’s much-missed churro made a comeback in September — but some fans felt duped when they discovered it was the twisted version, not the original straight churro they remembered.
The returning treat also came with a higher price tag, jumping from $1 to $1.49.
And Costco’s expansion plans are just as supersized as its food court portions.
The warehouse giant plans to open another 33 warehouses in fiscal 2027, bringing it closer to its goal of adding 30 net new locations annually.
CEO Ron Vachris announced the plans during the company’s latest earnings call, with Costco expecting to spend about $7.5 billion on the new locations.
Costco wrapped fiscal 2026 with a whopping 939 warehouses after pouring $6.4 billion into capital projects — and it’s keeping shoppers guessing about where its next batch of big-box behemoths will land.
