‘Dark Matter’ Season 3 Premiere Date Info: Will There Be A ‘Dark Matter’ Season 3 On Apple TV? Everything We Know

No spoilers, but when the end credits roll on Dark Matter Season 2, Episode 10, “No Quiet Life,” fans will be begging for more of Apple TV‘s hit sci-fi series. The question is: Are we getting more?!

Dark Matter‘s Season 1 finale absolutely slapped, so it’s no surprise that the sophomore season went out with a bang, too! The official synopsis promised, “a high-stakes gambit leads to unintended consequences.” And during an interview with Decider, Dark Matter‘s Jimmi Simpson teased, “Just like life, you make these great, fantastic plans, and they’re all coming together. But then there’s this one unexpected reality that you couldn’t even possibly prepare for. That’s what we’re dealing with.” Boy were they right!

So what happens after Dark Matter Season 2, Episode 10’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger?! How many episodes are in Dark Matter Season 2? Will there be a Dark Matter Season 3 on Apple TV? Has Apple TV renewed or canceled Dark Matter yet? And when will Dark Matter Season 3 premiere?

Here’s everything to know about a potential Dark Matter Season 3, including comments from producer Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry and Decider’s interview with Simpson.

How Many Episodes Are In Dark Matter Season 2? Dark Matter Season 2 Episode 10 Release Date:

Like Season 1 before it, Dark Matter Season 2 consists of 10 episodes. That means Dark Matter Season 2, Episode 10 — which aired Thursday, Oct. 29 at 9:00 p.m. ET — was the Season 2 finale.

Will There Be A Dark Matter Season 3?

Ahead of Dark Matter‘s Season 2 finale, Apple TV had yet to officially renew the hit sci-fi series for Season 3, but that’s not to say it won’t happen! It’s common for networks and streamers to wait a while after new seasons air to announce renewals, and as we said, when the end credits roll on Season 2, there will be plenty more story left to tell. Dark Matter Season 2 also received a Certified Fresh 82% Rotten Tomatoes rating from critics, plus there are already plans for a third season.

In an interview with ScreenRant, producer Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry said, “We designed Season 2, and when we were pitching it to Apple, and we were going through the process of getting it greenlit we designed the whole show to be three seasons. We see it as a trilogy, and that would be such an amazing opportunity to get to end something on your own terms and have a real round and complete story. And we’re very hopeful that that’s something that happens…”

During our interview with Dark Matter‘s Jimmi Simpson, he also shared hopes for Season 3, specifically for his character, Ryan.

“Ryan’s been motivated by science his whole life. I would love to see him find a little bit of love. You want that for everybody, right? But especially a guy like Ryan who’s succeeded in so much except for that. He needs something better than the pavia in his life,” Simpson said, confirming he’s also rooting for a Ryan/Amanda romance.

“As it stands, it’s clear that Amanda does and probably will eternally hold a bit of a candle for Jason. And I think Ryan observed that. He might have developed a quick crush, but then as soon as she sees Jason, he’s like, ‘Ah.’ So he’s biding his time. Ryan’s a very patient man, clearly. He can sit in other universes and just try and figure out stuff.”

It sounds like the Dark Matter Season 3 wheels are in motion, don’t you think? So stay tuned for more updates!

When Will Dark Matter Season 3 Come Out?

Since Dark Matter has yet to be officially renewed, there’s no Season 3 release date on the books yet. But since there was a two-year gap between Season 1 and Season 2’s premieres, there’s a chance it could take a while for new episodes to arrive. Again, stay tuned for updates!
