Jerry Jones rails against Cowboys after shocking upset: ‘Extraordinarily disappointing’

Anyone watching Thursday night’s Cowboys-Buccaneers contest could tell that Jerry Jones did not leave AT&T Stadium a happy man.

The Bucs secured their first win of the season with a 24-16 victory over Dallas, and the Cowboys owner made his dissatisfaction clear when speaking with the media postgame.

“Extraordinarily, extraordinarily disappointing,” Jones told reporters after the Dallas defeat. “[We] really do need to get it done when it’s there to take.

“They basically were very physical. I thought both their fronts — I was really surprised how they ran the ball, how they ran it between the tackles. That was surprising. We thought if they were going to run it, they’d do it outside.”

Adding to the toughness of the loss was the fact that it came against Tampa Bay’s backup quarterback, Jalon Daniels, an undrafted rookie from the University of Kansas who got his first career win as Baker Mayfield recovers from a hand injury.

“I thought we’d put it on their quarterback’s shoulders. Their staff, their quarterback, all their players, got a great victory tonight and it was a tough loss for us,” Jones added.

The ending was especially heartbreaking as Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott threw a pass that went off Jake Ferguson’s hands, and it bounced into the grasp of a diving Alex Anzalone to seal the victory for the visitors.

Prime Video captured Jones looking disgusted with the finish in his AT&T Stadium box.

The Cowboys are now third in the NFC East at 2-3. They await another primetime matchup next weekend on “Sunday Night Football” against the Packers.
