Dems are moving to destroy their own 2028 White House dreams

If Democrats capture the House in next month’s midterms, as they well may, they’ll face an enormous lure: to impeach Trump.

Yet they’ll be doing themselves, and the nation, a huge disservice if they don’t resist. And it could come back to haunt them in 2028.

What they need is an agenda — one that addresses what Americans want most.

And at the very top of that list: instilling confidence in the economy.

Even legendary Dem operative and Trump-hater James Carville warns of nearly the same thing: An impeachment drive is “not going to succeed and will be a distraction,” he says.

Right. Especially since Democrats have zero chance of winning the 67 Senate seats needed for an impeachment conviction.

What Carville understands better than most is that what’s driving voters away from Republicans isn’t their appreciation for Dems’ Ahab-like pursuit of Trump; to quote his most famous remark: It’s the economy, stupid.

Voters still feel the pinch of inflation, which skyrocketed under Biden and which the Iran war (with help from Trump’s tariffs) has kept at an uncomfortably high level.

Per a late September YouGov/Economist poll, almost 43% of registered voters rank inflation or “the economy” as their top concern.

If the GOP gets the boot, pricey gas will deserve most of the blame, not endless “No Kings” screeching.

No matter: Key Dems are nonetheless hinting they’ll aim to topple the prez if they take the House.

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), who’s in line to return as speaker, vows “to hold the crooks accountable.”

Even Carville drools at the prospect of at least investigations: “We’re going to find out a whole bunch of stuff really fast,” he predicted. “I promise you.”

Fine. But how will they improve the lives of average Americans?

Close down fossil-fuel power plants? Halt oil drilling? Ban natural-gas pipelines?

That’ll only drive utility bills and gas prices higher.

Stifle data centers and AI development? That won’t help a single American — but it will give China an edge.

Medicare for All? Pure fantasy: There’s no money for it, and it would worsen health care in any case.

Re-open the borders? Please. Having more illegal immigrants competing for jobs and housing, not to mention government handouts, can only boost economic insecurity.

Remember the “Inflation Reduction Act,” the $740 billion marquee Dem economic policy of recent years? Even the Biden White House eventually admitted it wouldn’t meaningfully lower inflation — and recent analyses show its behemoth green-energy giveaways will cost taxpayers nearly $5 trillion by 2050.

Yet Dems haven’t moved on; in fact, a freshman crop of radicals like Abdul El-Sayed will be even more committed to punishing the economically productive.

No wonder voters give Democrats a massively worse unfavorability rating than the GOP: Their net negative is 21 points vs. the Republicans’ 13, per a recent NBC survey.

Fact is, their lack of an agenda is precisely why Dems are forced to harp on Trump and eye impeachment: What else can they offer?

But surely they’ll want something to show for themselves when they seek the White House in 2028.

And remember: Trump will be gone in two years no matter what Democrats do.

Their best bet: Forget impeachment and push ideas that actually grow the economy.

Work to lower prices rather than hiking handouts.

Roll back economy-stifling, price-boosting climate mandates.

Control federal spending; heck, look for ways to lower taxes to spur growth.

Shut down the socialists and jump-start capitalism.

No, we don’t expect to see much of that actually happen.

But when 2028 rolls around and the Dem record is one of nothing but obstruction, don’t blame us for saying we told you so.
